Juan Pantoja | CFF 2021 Judge
Juan Pantoja is a professional makeup artist and an award winning filmmaker with over 20 years in the entertainment business. His career began as a dancer and performer on several theater productions and corporate events in Puerto Rico. He worked as a special effects makeup artist, mask maker, stage designer, and makeup artist on major theatrical productions in Puerto Rico like Las dos Angelas and El lazarillo de Tormes. After starting to teach stage makeup at Universidad del Sagrado Corazon he decided to formalize his makeup education by getting certified as a professional makeup artist at the Joe Blasco Makeup Center East in 2003 in Orlando, Fl. This led to the first TV miniseries “Parece Que Fue Ayer” filmed in Puerto Rico.
Juan worked as a senior instructor for MAD Science of central Florida, as an artist for MAC Cosmetics for 9 years and freelanced, for the Orlando Magic Dancers, Disney Company, ESPN, NASCAR, ABC, Disney Channel, Sea World Orlando and other companies. Some of the celebrities Juan have work with Producer John Landau, Booboo Stewart, Cameron Boyce and Jojo. Juan also worked as a drama teacher at Montessori School of East Orlando for 4 years where he created and developed the drama program for the school.
In 2016 Juan finished his BA in Graphic Design from Full Sail University and just finished his MFA in Film production from the same institution. During his time at Full Sail University, Juan worked in 9 short films and won 2 awards with his short film HOY, and was the cinematographer on the award winning short Phantom Body. Juan is currently the president of Dolphin Image Studios in Winter Haven Florida where he has done work as Director, Director of Photography, Producer, and Special Effects Makeup Artist in several projects.
Juan plans to enrich his knowledge as a Director and Cinematographer to better serve the filmmakers that come to Dolphin Image Studios.
