From Godzilla to filmmaking
Ever since Jonathan Vargas was five years old, he always knew he wanted to be a filmmaker. It all started with his love for Godzilla films. These films played a big part in his love for cinema, however, when he was introduced to Martin Scorsese, that was when he said he wanted to be a filmmaker. In his honest opinion, “Goodfellas” is the greatest film of all time.
Jonathan started making films in 2013. He’s done a few short films since then. More specifically, he has done 13 short films and one web-series. However, the monetary issue always pops-up. He is not ashamed to admit that sometimes his films are low to “No” budget projects. Throughout the years, he learned a valuable lesson: “Insinuate the positives, hide the negatives”. For example, the negative can be not having the best equipment or location to film, however, by coming up with memorable stories and characters, it is easier to insinuate the positives.
Jonathan really enjoys being on set and bringing his visions to life. He truly appreciates that feeling. Furthermore, he feels greatly rewarded when he sees his films on the big screen. Receiving rewards also gives him a sense of satisfaction. That is why he hopes to continue making films and, one day, he wants to work on a full-length feature film. Jonathan’s film is called “Loyalty or Betrayal”.
Jonathan also has his film Side Effects in Cosmic Film Festival.
